Ontologies for Distributed Command and Control Messaging
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents the development of a set of ontologies for use in messaging systems within military and emergency first responder command and control applications. These ontologies are used to annotate and subscribe to messages within a content delivery and service discovery middleware connecting sensors, services, and agents on the network. Ontologies serve an important role in this middleware in providing for flexible addressing and querying that increases the decoupling between senders and receivers afforded by the middleware. This is particularly important in the target applications, which feature heterogenous components and software versions spanning development organizations and deployment time. Discussed here are application uses, development methodology, evaluation criteria, and other notes on these ontologies and their creation. The goal of this paper is to provide useful input to others engaged in similar development efforts. A Distributed Framework Design for Formation Control of Under-actuated USVs in the Presence of Environmental Disturbances Using Terminal Sliding Mode Control
This paper proposes a distributed framework for formation control of USVs around a predefined target. This framework, according to the mission and problem conditions, includes three parts: determination of a desired path for each USV, preventing USVs entry to the target area and tracking the desired path of USVs under environmental disturbances. In the first part, a distributed approach is prop...

Six generations of RPC systems can be distinguished including Federated Method Invocation (FMI) presented in this paper. Some of them—CORBA, Java RMI, and Web/Globus services—support distributed objects. However, creating object wrappers implementing remote interfaces doesn’t have a great deal to do with object-oriented distributed programming. Distributed objects developed that way are usually...

This paper describes Knowledge Management for Distributed-Tracking (KMDT), which is an ongoing research and development project to explore methods to improve military functions in the battle space, such as command, control, and decision support. It features a hypothetical use-case scenario that shows how knowledge-management technologies, such as ontologies and intelligent agents, can be used t...

Background and Aim: Ontologies facilitate data integration, exchange, searching and querying. Open Biomedical Ontologies (OBO) Foundry is a solution for creating reference ontologies. In this foundry, the design of ontologies is based on established principles which allow for their interactions as a single system. The purpose of this study is to determine the main features of ontologies develop...
